A major bank in Sydney is seeking a Principal SQL Database Automation Engineer within the Data Platform Service Practice Team.

You will be a strategic leader responsible for shaping and driving the DevOps and SQL Infrastructure vision across multiple platforms and products.

You'll work at the forefront of a major transformation program—modernising legacy environments, introducing DevOps practices, and helping the existing team upskill in automation and modern database management.

What do I need?

  • Cloud Platforms: Advanced experience with MS Azure
  • Infrastructure-as-Code: Mastery of tools such as Terraform, Ansible, ARM templates, and scripting languages (PowerShell, Ruby).
  • DevOps Toolchains: Proven leadership in implementing and managing toolchains including Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Artifactory, Jira, and Chef.
  • SQL Infrastructure: Deep knowledge of SQL/PostgreSQL platforms, including performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery.
  • Containerisation: Expertise in OpenShift or Kubernetes platforms, including deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management.
  • Enterprise Experience: Demonstrated success in large-scale enterprise environments with complex dependencies and regulatory requirements.
  • Security & Compliance: Strong understanding of RBAC, Privilege Access Management, encryption, and secure provisioning practices.
