Description
About the role
As Senior Pharmacist, you will play a pivotal role in leading the organisation and operation of the new Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (MHRU) at Modbury Hospital, ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive, high-level range of pharmacy services. You will exercise independent professional judgement to provide timely and expert medicines information, therapeutic advice, and clinical support to patients, medical and nursing staff, and other health professionals. Your expertise will help uphold hospital and divisional policies, procedures, and professional pharmacy standards, ensuring safe and effective practice.
In this role, you will be central to optimising patient outcomes through the promotion of the safe, cost-effective, and evidence-based use of pharmaceuticals. By implementing quality use of medicine strategies, you will contribute to improved clinical care and patient safety, while supporting broader hospital objectives. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a leadership role where your skills and judgement directly influence patient care and health outcomes.
About You
You are a highly skilled and motivated pharmacist who is passionate about delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care. With strong professional competence in pharmacy practice, you thrive in complex clinical environments and bring both technical expertise and leadership to your work. Your ability to communicate clearly, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and guide and support colleagues will ensure you make a meaningful contribution to both patient outcomes and the broader pharmacy service.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have
- A Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent) and registration (or eligibility) with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
- Extensive hospital pharmacy experience, with proven leadership and management capability.
- Strong organisational, problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to supervise, train and support staff while working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- An interest in Mental Health is desirable but not essential.
