Role Description

We are seeking a motivated and capable Intermediate Accountant to join our team,
located on-site in the Inner West of Sydney
. The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years of experience in public practice and a strong desire to continue developing their technical and client relationship skills.

This is a great opportunity to work closely with experienced partners who will provide direct mentoring and exposure to a wide variety of client work.

You will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial statements and ensuring accurate tax reporting. Additional tasks include assisting with budgeting and forecasting, performing reconciliations, and supporting senior accountants in various accounting projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and review client bookkeeping records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, and other activity statements on behalf of clients.
  • Prepare individual, partnership, and company tax returns in accordance with relevant tax laws.
  • Address superannuation matters including compliance and contributions.
  • Assist clients with payroll tax compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Liaise directly with clients to understand their financial needs and provide tailored advice and solutions.
  • Collaborate with senior accountants and partners on complex client issues and projects.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and provide proactive advice to clients.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of internal processes and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Experience with financial statements preparation and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Xero) and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional certification or undertaking professional certification (CPA or equivalent)
