About the role:

The Nursing & Midwifery Manager for Policy, Professional Development, education and initiatives is responsible for the planning, analysis and governance of local health district and state initiatives, projects and strategies relating to Nursing and Midwifery. The position has a strong focus on supporting nursing and midwifery practice through strategic education and training plans, quality and safety initiatives and workforce development programs.

Every day is different working across a team of transformational leaders who have a passion for innovation, Policy, Professional development and educational strategies to optimise patient care and build a research and evidence based innovative profession. You will work collaboratively with other directorates including Clinical Governance to embed the patient safety & quality initiatives for Nursing and Midwifery, including National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, related Policy Directives and evidence-based practice. As our next Nurse Manager, you will:

  • Lead the Excellence program "Every Patient Every Time" across the LHD
  • Drive evidence-based leadership practices focused on staff capability and accountability.
  • Provide expert advice across policy development, professional development, education and strategic Nurse and Midwife Initiatives funding.
  • Lead the development of person-centred care models that meet the needs of our diverse communities.
  • Promote continuous learning through innovative education and professional development programs.
  • Strengthen partnerships across services to align nursing and midwifery practice district wide.
  • Provide professional support to Nursing & Midwifery leaders across the LHD.

Requirements:

1) Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA

2) Eligibility to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes. This may involve driving long distances within the Health District.
