The NSW Branch of the RTBU has approximately 15,000 members and advances their interests through strategic advocacy, disputation, and litigation in various Court and tribunals.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Union Industrial Officer located in the Sydney CBD reporting to the Director of Legal. The RTBU Industrial Officer will join a team of 6 IO's and lawyers, and will be responsible for representing and advocating on behalf of union members, negotiating enterprise agreements, handling industrial disputes, providing industrial relations advice, preparing case materials including evidence and submissions, appearing in the FWC, briefing barristers and conducting workplace visits. The IO will also be responsible for conducting research and analysis on workplace issues and policies, and facilitating training and information sessions for members.
Qualifications
- Advocacy, Negotiation, and Industrial Relations experience
- Skills in Case Preparation and handling Industrial Disputes
- Legal Research and Analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in union or worker representation is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Law or equivalent, or working towards the same
Essential Criteria
- Australian resident or citizen
- Driver licence
- Law degree (or part-completed)
- Willingness to work in office
Remuneration (p.a.)
- $85-110k (depending on experience)
- 5 weeks annual leave, 15 days P/C leave, 12 ADOs
- Practising cert/CPD costs covered
