About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Barista / Manager to join our vibrant team at The Focacceria in the heart of Melbourne. This is a full-time role based in our busy cafe located in the CBD. As Senior Barista / Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the cafe, while also utilising your exceptional barista skills to deliver consistently high-quality coffee and customer service.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage and oversee all cafe operations, including inventory management and staff supervision
  • Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based beverages, demonstrating excellent barista technique
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment in a very small place, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support the team in delivering a memorable experience while the customers are with us
  • Train and develop junior barista staff, sharing your expertise and helping them to improve their skills
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new cold beverage menu items
  • Collaborate with the management team to drive continuous improvement and growth

What we're looking for

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a barista in a fast-paced cafe or restaurant environment
  • Strong knowledge of coffee brewing, blending, and presentation techniques, in a very fast pace environment
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to create and maintain customer relationships
  • Understanding of Italian cafes and facaccias
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience in leading and motivating a team
  • Minimum 1 year of management or supervisory experience required
  • Passion for the hospitality industry and a commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience
  • Must have Australian work rights
  • Start early January 2026

Requirements:

  • Good understanding of Italian cafe and sandwiches
  • Ability to work all weekdays.
  • Valid Police Check required
  • Police Check must be dated within 3 months
  • Previous hospitality or QSR experience preferred
  • Minimum 1+ years hospitality or QSR experience required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and positive attitude
  • Food Handlers Certificate (preferred, not essential)
  • Must have valid Australian working rights
  • Training provided prior to start
