We are seeking a Human Resources - People and Culture professional to lead our HR operations, ensuring our people, policies and practices reflect our Christian ethos and commitment to excellence.
About the Role
Human Resources - People and Culture FTE 1.0 ongoing
The Human Resources - People and Culture role is a key leadership position responsible for managing all facets of human resources strategy and operations at The King's College. This includes recruitment, employee relations, performance management, payroll oversight, staff learning and development, workplace health and safety and compliance.
The King's College offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR leader who is passionate about supporting staff and fostering a positive, values-driven school culture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide expert HR advice and support to the Principal and senior leadership team regarding employee relations, performance management and employee wellbeing.
- Serve as the primary contact for employee HR queries, support and conflict resolution.
- Support grievances, disciplinary processes and performance improvement plans.
- Lead end to end recruitment, onboarding and contract administration, ensuring compliance with child safety obligations and legislation for teaching and non-teaching staff.
- Coordinate induction training, professional development activities and support leadership with succession planning.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all staff records in compliance with legal and policy requirements.
- Maintain and review College HR policies, staff handbooks and related manuals.
- Oversee the payroll function and advise on staff remuneration in conjunction with the Payroll Officer.
- Generate HR reports and metrics to inform strategic decision-making.
- Remain current on employment law ensuring HR practices comply with legislation and regulations.
- Promote a safe and inclusive workplace supporting WHS compliance through training and incident reporting.
- Manage workers' compensation claims and insurance processes, liaising with all stakeholders to facilitate rehabilitation.

You bring sound knowledge of HR best practice, employment legislation and compliance combined with a genuine commitment to supporting staff wellbeing and professional growth.
Highly organised and adaptable, you balance strategic thinking with hands-on administration, ensuring processes run smoothly while contributing to a positive and values-driven school culture.

- Actively practicing Christian faith with regular involvement in a local church
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of full-time experience in a similar HR or office environment; experience in the education or not-for-profit sector is highly desirable
- A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with HR/payroll information systems; experience in Employment Hero is desirable but not essential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including grammar and accuracy
- Familiarity with employment legislation and Awards applicable to the education sector
