Rural Remote Generalist Physiotherapist

About the Role

Norfolk Island Health and Residential Aged Care Service (NIHRACS) is seeking two physiotherapists to join our team as we implement our Physiotherapy Model of Care. Our ideal candidates will have both hospital and private practice experience and will have experience working in rural remote settings. Opportunities for fulltime, part-time, casual pool / leave relief or job share arrangements may be available.

NIHRACS is a busy, remote, multi-purpose service, including primary health care, emergency and inpatient care, residential aged care and allied health services, committed to the delivery of excellence in care. You will be joining a multidisciplinary team of allied health professionals, as well as highly qualified and experienced medical, nursing and support staff, complemented by regular visiting specialties.

The Physiotherapy Department provides services across the continuum of the patient/resident journey to people living on or visiting Norfolk Island. These include inpatient care, GP-referred consultations both public and private in our outpatient clinic, support for residential aged care, community-based exercise classes, and in-home physiotherapy for residents.

Key Responsibilities and attributes:

  • Deliver high-quality clinical care across the continuum of the patient/resident journey showing strong foundations in evidence-based practice, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Planning, coordinating, evaluating and improving the delivery of physiotherapy services.
  • Able to provide clear and professional consultation and collaboration with colleagues, other professionals, service providers, consumers, their families/supporters to provide person-centred, value-based care.
  • Contribute positively to both the physiotherapy and multidisciplinary teams with demonstrated ability to deliver team training and in-services such as manual handling.
  • Provide clinical guidance and supervision to other health professionals, including allied health assistants, supporting both their individual development and high-quality service delivery.
  • Contributes actively to risk management, safety and quality, continuous improvement, policy and procedure development and leadership in the workplace.
  • Skilled and values-driven Physiotherapist's who shows investment in ongoing professional development
  • Has computer literacy, knowledge of health information systems and Office 365 applications.

Selection Criteria

  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver physiotherapy programs in rural / remote settings
  • Excellent Communicator
  • Minimum of two years' experience in general hospital and musculoskeletal outpatients
  • Demonstrated ability to work in culturally diverse communities and adapt care approaches to the local population's values, customs, and healthcare beliefs.
  • Ability to work autonomously while also being a valuable contributor to collaborative teams
