About the Role:

We are seeking a Junior Estimator to join our construction team at Palm Lake Group Head Office in Southport CBD.This is a Full Time role working 38 hours per week (Mon – Fri with flexible start/finish times)with occasional site travel as required.

Working within a broader Estimating team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our project estimates, procurement processes, and budget management, working closely with management and construction teams.

This role is ideal for someone with 2 years estimating experience, to grow and develop their skills with an experienced team. Knowledge in residential high-volume building with accurate take-offs with the use of DataBuild software package is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Issue accurate purchase orders for construction jobs using Databuild and Onsite Companion;

• Identify and schedule available resources, monitor progress, and oversee the development of comprehensive estimates;

• Manage procurement activities including tendering, quote analysis, standard rate development, price negotiations, and cost-reduction strategies;

• Analyse subcontractor and supplier quotes to determine best value and accuracy;

• Convert detailed estimates into project budgets and cost plans, clearly communicating assumptions with internal stakeholders;

• Continuously review and update cost rates to reflect market conditions and trends;

• Generate trade and supplier price comparison reports to support procurement decisions;

• Assist in implementing and maintaining documentation, specifications, scopes of work, and estimating templates as required;

• Ensure project estimates adhere to defined budget constraints, proactively managing design and construction cost factors;

• Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of estimating procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency across projects.

What We're Looking For

To excel in this role, you will bring:

• 1 -2 years' experience in a similar Estimating role within the residential construction sector;

• Cert IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, or equivalent discipline (Engineering, Quantity Surveying);

• Sound technical knowledge of construction methods, material costs, and market pricing;

• Strong computer literacy - familiarity with Onsite Companion, Databuild, and other construction software platforms essential;

• Proven competence and confidence to accurately measure & price across all trades;

• Strong analytical, negotiation, and cost-management skill;

• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines;

• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
