About the Role:
In this role, you'll provide person-centred support to individuals with a range of disabilities, helping them enhance their independence and overall quality of life. The focus is on delivering respectful, compassionate care that is tailored to each individual's unique needs. While experience in disability support is beneficial, a genuine passion for making a positive difference is equally important.
As a Disability Support Worker, you will assist individuals with a diverse range of disabilities, including those requiring higher and more complex levels of support. This position involves shift work—including days, weekends, sleepovers, and active nights—and requires flexibility to work across the North-West Coast, from Wynyard to Latrobe.
PLEASE NOTE:
This role requires shift work and a willingness to meet the physical and emotional demands of the job. Please do not apply if you are unable to fulfill these requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with activities of daily living, including personal care, manual handling, and medication management.
- Provide support in challenging situations with flexibility, resilience, and strength.
- Build rapport and trust with participants through active listening and empathy.
- Work effectively within a team and contribute to shared team goals.
- Demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities and think on your feet.
Requirements
Essential Requirements: To be considered for this role, you must have:
- The ability to work shift work, including weekends, sleepovers, and active nights.
- A Certificate III in Disability/Individual Support (or similar qualification).
- A valid Working with Vulnerable People & NDIS endorsed Worker Screening Check.
- A current First Aid & CPR Certificate.
- Completion of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Worker Orientation Module (available at ).
- A driver's licence and reliable transportation.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Medication Endorsement.
- Behaviour support experience
