Hydra Search have exclusively partnered with a newly establish Engineering and Advisory Consultancy in Perth who are seeking a highly experienced
Lead Environmental Consultant
to establish and grow a new Environmental division.

This is a rare opportunity for a senior environmental professional—ideally from a large or mid-tier consultancy—who is ready to step into a role with genuine autonomy, influence, and the ability to
win and deliver their own work
. You will be entrusted to build the service line, grow a team, and leverage your professional network to drive sustainable business growth.

The Role

As Division Lead, you will be responsible for both
technical leadership and commercial growth
. You will shape the environmental offering, secure projects through your established network, and lead delivery across major energy and infrastructure developments in Western Australia.

This role is suited to someone entrepreneurial in mindset who wants to move away from bureaucracy and into a position where performance, relationships, and leadership directly shape the business.

Key Responsibilities

Division & Business Growth

• Establish and lead the Environmental division, including service offerings, systems, and delivery standards
• Leverage your existing professional network to originate and secure new projects
• Identify growth opportunities aligned with the energy transition and infrastructure markets
• Play a key role in business strategy, positioning, and long-term growth planning

Client & Market Leadership

• Maintain and expand strong relationships with clients, regulators, and key stakeholders
• Act as a trusted senior advisor to clients across energy, infrastructure, and government sectors
• Lead proposals, tenders, fee negotiations, and commercial strategy
• Represent the consultancy at industry events and with regulatory bodies

Technical Leadership

• Provide senior technical oversight and peer review across environmental services, including:
• Environmental impact assessments and approvals
• EPBC referrals and State environmental approvals
• Environmental management plans and compliance reporting
• Due diligence and environmental risk assessments
• Ensure technical excellence and regulatory compliance across all projects

Team Building & Mentorship

• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing environmental team
• Establish a strong culture of quality, accountability, and collaboration
• Support the development of junior and mid-level consultants

About You

Essential

• Minimum 10-15 years' experience in environmental consulting
• Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
• Deep understanding of WA environmental legislation, EPA processes, and approvals pathways
• Proven ability to win work through established client relationships
• Strong track record delivering complex environmental projects
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills

Highly Desirable

• Experience in the energy sector (renewables, oil & gas, hydrogen, transmission, infrastructure)
• Recognised industry profile and strong professional reputation
• Experience leading or growing a service line or business unit
• Professional accreditation (e.g. CEnvP or equivalent)
