We have a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Cadet Designer to join our team
What You Will Do:
As a Cadet Designer, you will kick-start your career in civil engineering through a supported cadetship that combines hands-on experience with formal education. You will be mentored by experienced professionals as you undertake and complete an Associate Degree of Engineering (Civil), whilst gaining the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to grow into a proficient Civil Designer.
This is a unique opportunity to earn while you learn, working on real-world infrastructure projects that benefit the Cairns region, from roads and drainage to parks and precincts.
What We Are Looking For:
- Completed Year 12 and/or Certificate III in Engineering.
- Qualified entry for acceptance into the course Associate Degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering) or equivalent.
- General working knowledge of PC application software (e.g. Word Processing, Spreadsheets), in a network environment.
- Ability to develop skills in a civil engineering environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
- Demonstrated ability to balance work duties and academic responsibilities.
Desirable:
- Competency of estimating processes, specifications and industry codes applied to civil infrastructure construction.
- Competency of Council's current engineering software packages (AutoCAD and 12d Model).
