The Role

Are you ready to take your safety leadership career to the next level? Bega Group is on the lookout for a dynamic Manager – Health and Safety, to champion our safety culture and lead a passionate team of Safety Advisors across multiple locations. Based at our flagship Port Melbourne site, the legendary home of Vegemite, this role is more than just a job. It's an opportunity to make a real impact in a business that's proudly Australian and deeply committed to the well-being of our team members. As our go-to safety expert, you will provide safety leadership to support several safety advisors based at regional locations. The safety manager will provide ongoing advice, guidance, coaching, mentoring and support to the site leadership and management team, team members, and other site personnel to achieve the safety strategies and ensure compliance

Responsibilities

• Leading and coaching a small team of Safety Advisors to support Bega's safety journey

• Support our sites in identifying and mitigating safety risks and risks to the well-being of all employees

• Monitor and evaluate safety performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement

• Work closely with line managers to ensure thorough risk assessments are performed and critical risk registers are maintained with critical controls implemented

• Prepare and coordinate the completion of various site reports for safety meetings and drive continuous safety improvement

About you

• A degree or diploma in Safety is desirable, or extensive relevant experience within a manufacturing environment

• In-depth practical knowledge of Australian occupational health and safety management systems, standards, and legislation

• The ability to build effective relationships through coaching and mentoring site leadership stakeholders

• Effective time management and prioritisation skills

• Experienced safety leader who can provide direction and support to a small team of Safety Advisors
