PURPOSE

The French polisher will apply their expertise in restoring and finishing high-quality wood surfaces, ensuring that all projects meet the exacting standards of our clients.This role demands a meticulous eye for detail and a deep understanding of traditional polishing techniques.

LOCATION

Sydney Australia

Applies finishes, such as stain, lacquer,paint oil and varnish to furniture and polishes and waxes finished furniture surfaces.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of 3 years of experience in French polishing.

Strong Knowledge of traditional and modern French polishing techniques.

High proficiency in English, both spoken and written. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.

strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

Physically capable of handling the demands of the job, including standing for long periods and lifting heavy materials when necessary.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Furniture Finisher

Applies finishes, such as stain, lacquer, paint, oil and varnish, to furniture and polishes and waxes finished furniture surfaces.

tasks Include:

studies drawings, work orders and sample parts to determine specifications determines tool and machine requirements and sequence of operations sets up woodworking machines and wood stock for correct cutting, planting, turning, shaping and sanding.

Operates machines to cut, plane, turn, shape and sand work pieces; removes old finishes by tripping with steel wool and glass paper, and by applying solvents and paint strippers and removing softened finishes by scraping.

Applies varnish, shellac,lacquer, stain and paint to surfaces and polishes and waxes finished surfaces perform French polishing, including the preparation application and finishing of wood surfaces.

Restore and maintain furniture, cabinetry and other woodwork to the highest standards.

mix and apply different finishes, stains and waxes as required.

Repair damaged or worn wood surfaces, ensuring a flawless finish.

Work closely with clients to understand heir need and provide expert advice on the best solutions.

Maintain a clean and organised workspace, adhering to safety protocols at all times.

Stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and materials in the industry to ensure top-quality results.
