About the TeamOur Operations team works with a diverse customer base to support several nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets.

The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.

About the Opportunity

Join a team that ensures the safety, efficiency, and reliability of Australia's rail infrastructure. As a Signal Electrician, you'll play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing signalling and communication systems across a designated rail corridor. From fault response to mentoring junior staff, your work will directly support the smooth operation of one of the country's most important transport networks.

  • Install, maintain, and repair signalling and communication systems per technical and safety standards.
  • Test equipment, diagnose faults, and submit compliance documentation

    Maintain mechanical locking, interlocking devices, and aerial signal/telecom lines.
  • Respond to faults and emergencies to restore safe operations.
  • Manage tools, vehicles, and equipment for operational readiness.
  • Recommend process improvements and optimise infrastructure performance.
  • Supervise and train staff to meet safety and technical standards.
  • Contribute to projects and perform additional duties as required.

What do we want from you?

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified railway Signal Electrician or relevant trade/technical experience.
  • Knowledge of rail safety management, OHS principles, and electrical codes of practice.
  • Skilled in fault diagnosis, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and procedures.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Valid Class C Driver's Licence.
  • ARTC Statement of Competency (Signals) or ability to attain via Signals Competency Assessment (EST

Desirable Criteria:

  • Detailed knowledge of telemetry and computer interlocking systems.
  • Current AUSTEL / ACA license.
  • Hand signalling and Worksite Protection Class 3 Certification.
