Security Operations Manager (Sydney)

Salary: $160,000 - $185,000

Are you a seasoned Security Operations Manager ready to drive impactful security solutions for Australian clients? Leverage your expertise in SOC design, SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel, Cortex), and incident response to strengthen security postures and lead organizations in navigating complex cyber challenges.

In this role, you'll design, implement, and optimize Security Operations Center (SOC) capabilities, ensuring clients are equipped with the tools and processes to detect, respond to, and recover from cyber threats. You'll also work closely with clients to align security practices with Australian cybersecurity regulations (Essential Eight, ACSC guidelines) and ensure they meet compliance requirements.

What You'll Do:

  • Design & Implement SOC Capabilities: Lead SOC process improvements and develop advanced threat detection strategies using SIEM tools.
  • Enhance Incident Response: Build and refine incident response and recovery workflows to ensure rapid and effective threat mitigation.
  • Security Assessments: Perform security assessments and audits, identifying risks and providing actionable recommendations.
  • Client Advisory: Guide clients in meeting compliance requirements and building resilient security frameworks.
  • Lead & Mentor: Provide expert leadership to SOC teams, driving continuous improvement and enhancing their capabilities.

What We're Looking For:

  • 8+ years of experience in security operations, with a focus on SOC management and incident response.
  • Expertise in SIEM tools such as Splunk, Sentinel, or Cortex.
  • Deep understanding of Australian cybersecurity regulations (e.g., Essential Eight, ACSC guidelines, NDB scheme).
  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., banking, critical infrastructure, government).
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a focus on team development and continuous improvement.
  • Certifications like CISSP, SANS GIAC, or SOC certifications are a plus.
  • Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain AGSVA security clearance.
