The Role

This isn't an internship.

It's an opportunity for a true electronics mind to step up to the batting plate and help design the next generation of counter-surveillance and intelligence technology.

We're looking for someone who's been obsessed with electronics long before university — someone who lives for the smell of solder and the satisfaction of a flawless PCB layout.

You'll take ownership of design projects from concept through to prototype, and your work will directly shape products that operate in real defence environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and refine PCB layouts using Altium, KiCad, or similar platforms.
  • Generate Gerber files and production documentation for prototype and manufacturing.
  • Create and maintain detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) with full component specifications.
  • Develop, test, and debug firmware for embedded systems (ESP32, STM32, Atmel, etc).
  • Conduct circuit design, component selection, and system-level troubleshooting.
  • Assist in hardware validation, including signal integrity, EMI/EMC testing, and performance tuning.
  • Work autonomously — bringing ideas, designs, and execution together to make hardware come alive.

About You

  • Currently studying Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering (3rd or 4th year preferred).
  • You've been passionate about electronics for years — building, modifying, and experimenting long before it became coursework.
  • Strong practical understanding of PCB design, embedded firmware, and hardware debugging.
  • Self-driven and disciplined — capable of managing your own workflow and taking full ownership of outcomes.
  • Must be an Australian citizen (required for potential future security clearance).
  • You thrive on challenge, creativity, and purpose — especially when the stakes are high.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Australian citizens and may be subject to a Baseline security clearance process.

Pay: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week
