About the role

Advanced practice nurse providing autonomous, expert clinical assessment, treatment and discharge of paediatric emergency patients within the See & Treat service. Works independently and collaboratively, ensuring high-level care, accountability and alignment with credentialed scope.

Key duties of the role

  • Conduct comprehensive assessment and clinical management of patients in See & Treat / ACE PED or via CAVUCS telehealth.
  • Initiate interventions, prescribe medications, use clinical equipment, and manage patient admission and discharge.
  • Supervise Nurse Practitioner Candidates and support development through education and mentorship.
  • Apply research evidence and clinical expertise to support advanced decision-making and innovation.
  • Provide expert consultancy and high-level advice on clinical practice, workforce, protocols, legislation, education and research.

Skills and Experience

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate with the notation of Nurse Practitioner.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 5 years post registration experience.
  • Demonstrated advanced level of nursing practice in the care and management of Emergency Nursing.
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
