The opportunity
We are currently looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and friendly Pool Attendants to join Federation Council's Corowa Aquatic Centre and Howlong Pool who have the following attributes:

- Are available early mornings, late afternoons, and weekends.
There are two types of Pool Attendant positions that Council is seeking suitable candidates for:
This role primarily responsible for day-to-day operational tasks that ensure pool facilities run effectively and efficiently. In this role, you will:
- Carry out customer service and administration duties.
- Basic food preparation and service.
- Inspect and monitor pool facilities to identify and respond to faults and hazards.
- Undertake facility patrols to monitor activities of patrons and enforce pool rules.
- Provide first aid, and administer CPR as required.
- Conduct pool water sampling, pool, and facility cleaning.
This role is a lifeguard qualified position. In addition to undertaking the duties of a Pool Attendant Level 1 outlined above, in this role you will:
- Undertake lifeguard supervision of pools, monitoring patrons and enforcing pool rules.
- Perform water rescues, provide first aid, and administer CPR as required.
- Provide emergency care pending the arrival of appropriately qualified personnel.
Criteria
Council's preferred candidates will ultimately possess a range of the following qualifications, experience, skills, and knowledge.
Pool Attendant Level 1
- Current and valid Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID001) qualification or the ability to acquire.
- Current and valid NSW working with children check and national criminal check.
- Safe food handling certificate or the ability to acquire.
- Proficient customer service skills including the ability to respond to enquiries, build rapport and manage complaints and resolve conflict.
- Previous experience with point of sales and cash handling and/or basic food service.
- Previous experience cleaning and presenting facilities.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and make decisions independently.
Pool Attendant Level 2
In addition to Pool Attendant Level 1 above:
- Pool Lifeguard (SISSS00111) qualification or the ability to acquire.
On-the-job training and support will be provided for all successful candidates. Council will also assist with facilitating Pool Lifeguard training for suitable candidates.
Successful Level 2 candidates will have opportunity to attend inhouse training for Pool Lifeguard (SISSS00111) qualification including first aid on 25/26 October 2025.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council's policies and conditions of employment.
- Pool Attendant Level 1 salary is commencing at $37.02 per hour including casual loading for 19 years and over. Junior rates apply to 18 years and under. Please note that weekend work is the base rate + penalty rates.
- Pool Attendant Level 2 salary is commencing at $38.89 per hour including casual loading for 19 years and over. Junior rates apply to 18 years and under. Please note that weekend work is the base rate + penalty rates.
