Role: Azure Databricks Platform Administrator

Location: Sydney

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

Workspace & Access Management

  • Create and manage Unity Catalog, workspaces, SCIM provisioning, and role-based access control (RBAC).
  • Manage users, groups, service principals, and their access to notebooks, clusters, jobs, and data.
  • Delegate workspace and account admin roles as needed cite turn1 search 2.

Compute & Cluster Management

  • Configure and manage Databricks compute resources including job clusters, interactive clusters, cluster policies, pooling, and autoscaling.
  • Optimize costs using spot instances and instance pools.
  • Tune queries and orchestrate jobs for performance.

Platform Monitoring & Governance

  • Enable and manage audit logging, diagnostics, billing usage reports, and system tables for monitoring.
  • Implement alerting, compliance/security policies (IP access lists, credential passthrough, secret scopes), and tagging.

Account-Level Administration

  • Enable Unity Catalog and manage metastores.
  • Sync identities from Microsoft Entra ID and manage them across workspaces.
  • Configure account-level settings and manage Azure Databricks previews.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud data platform administration.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks.
  • Proficiency in managing Unity Catalog, SCIM, RBAC, and cluster policies.
  • Familiarity with Azure services (Storage, Networking, Managed Identity).
  • Experience with cost optimization and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance best practices.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
  • Databricks Certified Data Engineer or Administrator
