The Role:
Within the Agency Framework, and in accordance with Agency policies and procedures, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) plays a pivotal leadership role in the development, delivery, and evaluation of Health Services at the Central Highlands Community Health Service (Ouse, Tasmania).
Operating within a defined scope of practice, the NP ensures high-quality, person-centred care that supports improved health outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.
The NP is responsible as a leader, advisor and mentor for other nurses and clinicians to ensure high level clinical excellence in Sub-Acute, Aged and Community Services
This position is central to:
- Improving continuity of care for rural communities.
- Strengthening integration across THS services, private providers, and community organisations.
- Supporting a place-based approach to care delivery.
The NP will draw upon advanced clinical competencies to:
- Enhance service outcomes through research and quality improvement.
- Champion nurse-led primary care pathways.
- Engage in relevant research, collaborative education, and service redesign.
- Act as a leader and mentor to nurses and other clinicians across Sub-Acute, Aged, and Community Services.

Details of appointment:
Permanent part time, day worker position, working 48 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $144,146 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance withNurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type.
Salary Packaging:
You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
- Remote and Rural Professional Development Allowance of an additional salary allowance of 4%.
