Operations / Project Engineer – Downstream Energy

Search Partners is partnering with a leading downstream energy company to find a hands-on Operations / Project Engineer to drive the delivery of capital works, terminal upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives across a national asset portfolio.

This newly created position is designed to lift engineering and operational projects off the shoulders of busy site managers, ensuring they're delivered from inception through to operational readiness with discipline, clarity, and impact.

You'll work closely with senior national and global operations leaders, taking ownership of projects, coordinating external consultants, and making sure what's promised is delivered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead major and minor brownfield projects across terminal assets nationally
  • Act as the bridge between operations and external engineering consultants
  • Develop scopes, functional descriptions and project documentation
  • Drive operational readiness and ensure safety, compliance, and quality standards
  • Oversee multiple work streams concurrently across geographically dispersed sites
  • Deliver tangible operational improvements through structured project execution

About You

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Process or similar)
  • 5+ years' experience in project engineering / operations within downstream oil, terminals, or process industries
  • Proven track record delivering brownfield projects in live operational environments
  • Strong consultant and stakeholder management skills
  • Practical, delivery-focused mindset with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Familiarity with Australian standards and terminal regulatory frameworks is advantageous
