About the service

Liberty Avenue Kindergarten has been in operation in Rowville for almost 30 years and now proudly offers both 3 and 4 yr old funded sessional kindergarten to our local community. We are a not for profit organisation and are owned and run by the community and the parent volunteers on our Committee of Management.

We are looking for 3 suitably qualified and experienced team member to join our workforce who come with a strong work ethic and excellent references.

Work days

Position 1: Wednesday & Friday & 3hrs non contact time every second Thursday

This is a 12 month contracted appointment with the prospect of extending to permanent part time if mutually agreeable and dependent upon ongoing enrolments and sustainability of the position.

The wage is annualised to ensure ongoing payment throughout all Victorian school holidays

Position 2: Monday, Wednesday & Friday

Hours of work

Position 1: Wednesday 8am pm, Thursday (every second week) 9am - 12 noon, Friday 8am - 4.30pm

Position 2: Monday 8.30am – 3.00pm,  Wednesday 11.30am – 2.30pm, Friday 11.30am – 2.30pm

Qualifications:

Diploma in Early Childhood education recognised by ACECQA

Industrial agreement/award:

VECTEA 2020

Description

We are looking for 3 motivated team members to join our educational team in 2026, who come with a Diploma in Early Childhood Education qualification, a strong work ethic, and excellent references.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold permanent residency in Australia
  • have a thorough understanding of the planning cycle and be willing to contribute towards this process.
  • have a firm understanding of and commitment to child safe standards and the National Quality Standards
  • play a role in informing our centre's Quality Improvement Plan

Key Selection Criteria:

  1. What do you see as an Early Childhood Educator's role in a sessional kindergarten setting, with regards to documentation and planning
  2. What are your thoughts on risky play and how this can coexist with the Child Safe Standards
  3. How do you ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children in your care? What can you tell us about your supervision style?
  4. What do you think are  the key features, behaviours or attributes that help create a collaborative team approach in a kindergarten setting? What specific skills do you have that would be beneficial in creating such a collaborative team approach?

If your application is successful, we will contact you via a phone call to invite you for an interview.

The interview panel will consist of representatives from our Committee of Management and senior educators.

You will be asked some questions pertaining to your educational philosophy, Child Safety, personal strengths and some behavioural questions to assess your suitability for the position.

We aim to contact all applicants within 4 weeks of the closing date, either by phone or by email.

Reference and preemployment checks:

Depending on the position you are applying for, this will include:

ID check, Qualification check, Police check, Reference checks, VIT status check, Working With Children status check.
