Site Plumber

Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity

We are looking for a trade qualified and experienced Plumber to join the site services team. Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, the Plumber is responsible for ensuring that site infrastructure and facilities are maintained in a serviceable condition.

This position operates on an 8 days on 6 days off day shift roster, FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• Trade qualification in Plumbing
• Poly Welding ticket
• WA C Class Drivers Licence
• Demonstrated understanding of building maintenance and infrastructure
• Proven experience working in a processing plant environment
• Strong understanding safety standards including; permit systems and risk management tools
• Experience utilising a SAP based system such as CMMS
• National Police clearance

To be eligible to apply for this role you must be legally permitted to work permanently in Australia.

Key Duties (but not limited to) :-

• Proactively monitor, measure and communicate downtime events which negatively impact site personnel, safety systems or the environment
• Coordinate repair and maintenance activities minimising interruptions to personnel and plant in accordance with priority and safety
• standards
• Identify and develop improvement strategies to deliver reliability of equipment, cost effectiveness and productivity
• Conduct plumbing works and emergency repairs on existing services pipelines including poly welding
• Maintain site buildings and service facilities to ensure they meet safety and operational standards. Facilities may include;
• Buildings and crib rooms
• Fuel farm
• Wash down bay
• Potable Water System
• Aerodrome
• Record maintenance activities in the CMMS system and execute preventative maintenance inspections as allocated by the system
• Support infrastructure projects with expertise knowledge and skill to ensure alignment with the project scope
• Provide support to the maintenance team with minor service activities or statutory tasks

About Karara Mining

Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
