Production Horticulturist

Tripod Services Pty Ltd is one of Australia's largest salad and lettuce producers with farms in Western Melbourne, Gippsland and the Sunraysia region. The business is seeking a full-time qualified Production Horticulturist on their sites in Bacchus Marsh (VIC 3340) and Boisdale (VIC 3860).

The salary offered is $76,515 per annum plus superannuation.

Job duties and responsibilities include:

· Ensuring that all land preparations are done as per established procedures. 

· Training/monitoring operators where required to ensure tasks are done as per standard procedures

· Preparing working programs daily/weekly/monthly to facilitate implementation of respective tasks

· Assessing quality of work and taking corrective actions where applicable

· Ensuring that all material inputs are adequate for respective operations

· Ensuring the upkeep of all tractors and implements

· Liaising with Farm Operation Manager/Agronomist/Maintenance Manager where required

· Operating various tractors and implements

· Identifying and reporting unusual disease or plant pest signs

· Operating pressurised irrigation systems

· Preparing and applying chemicals to control pests, weeds and diseases

· Coordinating horticultural crop harvesting

· Fumigating soil

· Managing, installing drainage systems

· Monitoring and managing nursery plants

· Operating spreading and seeding equipment.

The applicants will have the following skills and experience:

· At least AQF Certificate III or IV qualifications in Production Horticulture OR 3 years employment experience as a production horticulturalist with relevant formal training OR 5 years employment experience as a production horticulturalist with no formal training.

· Previous farming or horticulture experience is highly desirable

· Excellent communication and time management skills

· Ability to work with minimal supervision.
