Beenleigh Housing and Development Company Ltd (BHDC)/Jinndi Mibunn is the oldest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Organisation of its type in Eagleby, Beenleigh Logan QLD. BHDC strives to support, enhance, and transform the lives of its members in culturally supportive, community connected and regenerative ways. BHDC was formally established in 1994 as a not-for-profit, registered charity.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family Support Worker to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting families to navigate complex circumstances and ensure that children and parents receive the care and assistance they need.
Key Responsibilities:
Family Support:
Undertake tasks as reasonably required by the CEO, Chief Operating Officer or Team Leaders.
- Conduct intake processes to assess and support families.
- Manage and maintain efficient administrative systems within the program.
- Support case management, including attending home visits, stakeholder meetings, and monitoring the welfare of families.
- Support families in holistic case management in relation to early intervention and Child Safety matters.
- Assist with both non-critical and critical incidents to prevent placement breakdowns and mitigate risks for children in care.
- Advocate for parents/carers and assist them in accessing necessary resources.
- Connect families to Jinndi community programs, services, and events.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated understanding of case management, child protection, and family services.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Experience in providing advocacy and supporting families through critical incidents.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including families, community partners, and other service providers.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy and compassion, with a focus on delivering client-centered support.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle sensitive situations with professionalism.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Understanding of legal, regulatory, and policy frameworks governing child protection and vulnerable individuals, including the Working with Children Act and other relevant legislation.
Requirements:
- Current Working with Children Blue Card (or the ability to obtain one).
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transport.
- Complete a Child Safety Screening Check (LCS2).
