Meat Boners

Pacific Meat Sales is a family-owned business operating for over 30 years. Specialising in high-quality meat sales to a domestic and export market. Our focus is on Pork, Beef, and Veal, which are supplied through 5 different brands.

We are recruiting multiple Meat Boners for our Pork & Beef Rooms at our Thomastown Meat Processing and Packing facility. We are looking for experienced meat boners proficient at removing cuts from carcass sides & quarters, using specified cutting lines whilst retaining maximum yield to add to our team for our beef and pork boning facility in Thomastown, VIC.

• Deboning Meat: Skillfully remove bones from various types of meat cuts, including beef, pork, lamb, and poultry, using knives and other cutting tools.
• Trimming and Cutting: Trim excess fat, sinew, and other unwanted parts from meat cuts to meet quality standards.
• Equipment Use and Maintenance: Properly use and maintain all deboning tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition.
• Quality Control: Inspect meat cuts for quality, ensuring there is minimal waste and that meat is prepared according to specifications.
• Safety and Hygiene: Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe working environment. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and regularly sanitising work areas.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including quantities and types of meat processed.
• Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations and timely completion of tasks.

Experience:

• Previous experience in meat processing, butchery, or a related field is preferred.
• Proficiency in using deboning knives and other cutting tools.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure precise cuts and minimal waste.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Previous experience as either a Boner or Butcher is desired;
• Knife skills
• Trim meat from bones
• Experience within a processing environment (bench boning or rail boning) is highly desired;
• Ability to undergo a pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol testing;
• Ability to maintain the pace of production
• Physically fit with the ability to work within a highly proactive and successful team.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene
• Ability to work in a team or autonomously.
• Understanding of meat cuts, deboning techniques, and food safety regulations.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• The capability to perform repetitive motions and lift heavy objects
• Comfortable working in cold environments typically found in meat processing areas.

• Environment: Work is performed in refrigerated areas with temperatures typically between  5°C to 8°C.
• Hours: Full-time positions available, with early morning shifts.
• Safety Gear: PPE such as mesh gloves, mesh aprons, and safety glasses are required to be worn at all times.
