About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the talented team at Ilma Beach House as an Assistant Restaurant Manager. In this full-time role, you will play a key part in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our award-winning restaurant located in this picturesque part of Western Australia's south west.

What you'll be doing

• Assist the Restaurant Manager in leading and motivating the team to deliver exceptional customer service including coordination between Front of House (FOB) and Back of House (BOH).
• Oversee dining room operations, ensuring the restaurant runs smoothly and efficiently.
• Assist with staff scheduling, training and development.
• Monitor and maintain high standards of food and beverage service.
• Resolve customer queries in a timely and professional manner.
• Help implement and enforce all health, safety and security policies.
• Support the Restaurant Manager in driving continuous improvement and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

• Monitor floor operations to ensure service quality, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.
• Maintain opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and reporting.
• Oversee daily reservations and table allocations, especially during peak hours and functions.
• Support inventory control, ordering, and stock management for FOH supplies.

Guest Experience

• Greet, seat, and engage with guests to ensure their experience exceeds expectations.
• Handle guest queries professionally and efficiently.
• Ensure service standards are consistently met and exceeded.
• Build rapport with regular patrons and VIP guests to encourage repeat visits.

Team Leadership & Training

• Assist in training, coaching, and mentoring FOH team members.
• Support rostering and shift management, ensuring adequate staffing for service and functions.
• Conduct pre-shift briefings to communicate service expectations, menu updates, and daily specials.
• Lead by example in service delivery and professionalism.

Event & Function Coordination

• Assist in planning and executing private functions, weddings, corporate events, and special occasions at Ilma Beach House.
• In conjunction with the Wedding & Events Coordinator, liaise with clients to confirm event details, menu selections, and special requirements.
• Ensure seamless coordination between FOH, BOH, and bar teams during events.
• Oversee event set-up, service flow, and pack-down.

Compliance & Safety

• Understand and ensure ongoing compliance with Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and all local licensing laws.
• Maintain health, safety, and hygiene standards in line with regulations.
• Assist with incident reporting and hazard identification.

Financial Support

• Support the Restaurant Manager with budget monitoring, cost control, wage costs and achieving revenue targets.
• Upsell to maximise revenue.

What we're looking for

• Previous experience in a similar Assistant Manager or supervisory role in a high-quality restaurant or hospitality setting.
• Demonstrated experience in the management and delivery of events.
• Strong leadership, motivational and team-building skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service.
• Proficient in managing staff schedules, budgets and inventory.
• Thorough understanding of food safety, liquor licensing and other relevant regulations.
• Passion for the hospitality industry and a commitment to providing a memorable dining experience.
