About the Role

We are seeking a
Ground Control Systems Engineer
to join our Adelaide-based team, taking ownership of integration, verification, and validation activities for advanced UAV systems.

This position requires both strong technical expertise and leadership qualities, with a focus on communications, networks, and mission planning systems.

The successful candidate will be hands-on, comfortable diagnosing and solving issues in the field, and able to provide both technical depth and leadership to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a multidisciplinary team working on UAV ground control systems
  • Drive integration, verification, and validation (VNV) activities for ground control systems
  • Perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting of communications, networking, and mission planning systems in both lab and field environments
  • Support development, deployment, and operation of drone control and mission planning infrastructure
  • Diagnose hardware and systems issues in the field and coordinate solutions with engineering teams
  • Contribute to system integration and test plans, ensuring performance, safety, and compliance standards are met
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team

Skills and Experience

  • 7–8 years' total engineering experience, with at least 3 years in UAV, aerospace, or communications systems
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Communications systems and networks
  • Ground control stations, drone controllers, and mission planning software
  • Systems/hardware testing, integration, and validation processes
  • Hands-on field experience diagnosing and resolving hardware/system issues
  • Proven ability to lead and influence teams, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • UAV/drone piloting or operational experience (desirable)
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks for UAV operations (desirable)
