Veterinary Nurse

About the role

Yarra Ranges Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgical Nurse to join our close-knit team in our modern hospital located in Lilydale, VIC. This full-time role is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and skilled veterinary professional to contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient care. You will be working closely with our experienced, senior surgeon who also operates a referral service through our hospital and in a few other practices.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting veterinarians during surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile environment, preparing equipment, and monitoring the patient's vital signs
• Anaesthetic induction and monitoring
• Administering medications, fluids, and other treatments as directed by the veterinarian
• Providing exceptional nursing care to surgical patients, including post-operative monitoring and pain management
• Maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and hospital policies
• Educating clients on post-operative care and instructions for their pets
• Restocking and maintaining the surgical suite and associated equipment
• Supporting the veterinary team in other duties as required
• Some reception and weekend work is required

What we're looking for

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Surgical Nurse in a clinical setting
• Excellent patient care and communication skills, with the ability to provide compassionate care to both animals and their owners
• Strong technical skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with all aspects of surgical nursing including orthopaedics and in particular TPLO, patella luxation repair and fracture repair.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of infection control and patient safety
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to a positive and supportive work culture
