Botanical Hotel,a modern Australian Bar & Grill and South Yarra institution, is seeking an aspiring Head Sommelier and Wine Buyer.

We are a diversified venue with an engaging community.  We offer multiple spaces including a brasserie, bar, private rooms, wine store and grocer.

We have a keen focus and outstanding reputation serving seasonal and sustainable ingredients in a warm and welcoming environment.

Botanical Hotel also offers an award-winning wine list featuring 1,300 local and international wines, and a wide range of craft beers and spirits.

This position would suit an enthusiastic, dedicated and knowledgeable hospitality professional.

The right candidate will be self-motivated, passionate and able to work within a team environment, achieving the highest standards whilst leading a wine service team of their own.

  • Craft the wine list and manage all inventory maintenance

A minimum two years' experiencein a similar role will be highly regarded. However, we will also consider applicants wishing to take the next step in their career.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience within a fast-paced venue, be guest focused and have a hands-on approach
  • Experience within a la carte restaurants
  • Demonstrate a passion for wine, with WSET or CMS qualifications being desirable
  • Knowledge of the Australian and international market would be advantageous
  • A willingness to further their knowledge base, including industry trends and new products
  • A friendly and outgoing, can-do attitude
  • Be willing to go the extra mile to make our guests' experience memorable
  • Be self-motivated, passionate and able to work within a team environment
  • A keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • The ability to take direction, also to work autonomously
  • The flexibility to work weekends and public holidays
