The level of competency in each of the areas will be position grading and depth of experience dependent.About youExcellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skillsInitiative and self-directionTeam playerAble to manage tight deadlines and a dynamic work environmentPatient care focused and understanding of the patient experienceB.Sc in the area of Neurophysiology or extensive experience.Experience in Clinical NeurophysiologyPOSITION SUMMARYAs a Scientist you will perform a range of Neurophysiological studies on a variety of patients. The level of competency in each of the areas will be position grading and depth of experience dependent.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAs a Scientist, it is expected that you will perform the following procedures in a professional manner, for ambulant patients through to patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the attached private hospital. This includes making sure that you are adequately resourced to perform the procedure, that the procedure is done following the various protocols, and that the report is generated in partnership with the reporting Junior medical staff/Neurologist in a timely fashion.Be involved with Clinical and Research programs in the following areas;• Perform routine, Sleep Deprived, Long term Video Electroencephalogram (vEEG) monitoring.  Also perform 1 to 7 days ambulatory EEG monitoring.• Perform Somatosensory, and Visual, Evoked Potential studies• Small Fibre neurophysiology testing.• Contribute to the Intraoperative Monitoring service where required.• Contribute to the Neurosciences presence in Surgical Services• Using your technical skills to assist in wearable devices research.• Other Neurophysiology testing as required.• Other research topics as they develop.In addition, you will;• Provide technological assistance to both junior and senior medical staff• Perform minor maintenance of equipment.• Perform other duties, consistent with your role, as required by the management .• Be able to work across the various sites of Canberra Neurology.QUALITY, SAFETY, RISK and IMPROVEMENT• Maintain an understanding of individual responsibility for patient safety, quality & risk and contribute to organizational quality and safety initiatives• Follow organizational safety, quality & risk policies and guidelines• Maintain a safe working environment for yourself, your colleagues and members of the public.• Escalate concerns regarding safety, quality & risk to appropriate staff member, if unable to rectify yourself.• Promote and participate in the evaluation and continuous improvement processes.• Comply with principles of Patient Centered Care.• Comply with mandatory continuing professional development requirements.• Comply with requirement of National Safety & Quality Health Service Standards and other relevant regulatory requirements.OTHER REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL CANBERRA NEUROLOGY HEALTH STAFF:• Ensure compliance with relevant Canberra Neurology clinical and administrative policies and guidelines.• Comply with relevant privacy legislation.• Protect confidential information from unauthorized disclosure and not use, disclose or copy confidential information except for the purpose of and to the extent necessary to perform your employment duties at Canberra Neurology.• In this position you must comply with the actions set out in the relevant section(s) of Roles and Responsibilities Guideline.• Research activities will be undertaken commensurate with the roleKEY CAPABILITIES:Essential• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills• Initiative and self-direction• Team player• Able to manage tight deadlines and a dynamic work environment• Patient care focused and understanding of the patient experienceQUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED• B.Sc in the area of Neurophysiology or extensive (> 5 years)experience.Please send your resume with details of two recent supervisors to or apply to this advertisement.
