The South East Region is seeking applications for two temporary full-time Community Education Counsellor (Identified) to join the team. These roles will be based at schools in the Logan area and will be supported to lead an explicit improvement agenda aimed at closing the educational disparity gap. The successful applicants will also work to co-create
culturally responsive primary schools that foster high expectations and aspirations for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.

Your Role
Community Education Counsellors (CEC's) have been an integral component of the Queensland Department of Education for more than 50 years. They are dedicated professionals who offer educational counselling and support to identified schools, with the primary aim of ensuring Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, their families and their communities have access to the tools and services required to experience success in their academic journey. Embracing the principles of Equity & Excellence, CEC's walk alongside school leaders, valuing culture and creating inclusive teaching and learning environments whereby all students have equal access to education and learning, education settings are inclusive and accessible and the voices of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, community and stakeholders are valued.
Your Responsibilities
As the Community Education Counsellor (Identified), your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Provide educational counselling and support services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and students across a number of schools.
- Participate in the development of activities, in and out of school, likely to enhance the involvement in education of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families.
- Develop and undertake support service programs designed to meet the needs of the school/s that will encourage the educational participation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and students.
