The opportunity

Ready to join a reputable Development Planning team who thrive in providing a high quality service to their community? We're seeking an experienced Development Planner to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.

Our Development Planning team provide advice and high level customer service to not only the Community of Port Stephens, but to the elected Council, internal stakeholders, rate payers, development industry professionals, and other Government agencies as required.

This role will provide you the perfect platform to showcase your Development Planning skills and experience in a Local Government setting, working alongside a bunch of experienced Planners and mentored by both the Senior Development Planner, and the Principal Development Planner.

  • This is a permanent opportunity – working full-time 35 hours / week + access to a flexible working arrangement
  • Base Salary Range: $87,392 to $102,814 pa based on 35 hours / week + 12% superannuation + $19,364 motor vehicle allowance + $2,464 retention allowance
  • You will be working from PSC Administration Building, Raymond Terrace

  • Development Assessment, including assessment of development applications under delegated authority and associated tasks
  • Planning advice to internal stakeholders, the Joint Regional Planning Panel, the Council, the Community and other Government agencies
  • Investigation of unauthorised/illegal uses which include recommendations of actions in accordance with adopted policies
  • General mentoring of junior staff members, including the Cadet Planner

  • A degree qualification in Planning or a related field with several years of experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of planning and development legislation including the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 (NSW) and the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW)
