Data Analyst

We are proud to be partnered with a leading mining company to recruit an experienced Data Analyst / Reporting Specialist. This role is offered as an initial 6-month contract with the potential to transition into a full-time position.

Purpose of the Role

This position provides dedicated support for extracting, analysing, visualising, and reporting mining operational data, addressing a current gap in analytics capability. You will leverage your mining background, SQL expertise, and fleet management system experience (MineStar or equivalent) to deliver data-driven insights that support operational teams, business improvement initiatives, and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Data Extraction & Management

• Extract and clean data from multiple operational sources.
• Develop and maintain robust SQL queries and views.

Data Analysis

• Conduct cost-benefit studies, trend analysis, and performance benchmarking.
• Provide actionable insights into fleet performance, production, and operational efficiency.

Reporting & Visualisation

• Build and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and visual tools.
• Present insights and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Operational & Business Improvement Support

• Partner with operational teams and BI Analysts to identify efficiency, safety, and productivity opportunities.
• Deliver timely, accurate insights to guide decision-making and project outcomes.

Required Skills & Experience

• Previous mining industry experience and strong understanding of operational environments.
• Hands-on experience with MineStar (or equivalent FMS).
• Strong SQL programming and data manipulation expertise.
• Demonstrated experience in mining operational reporting.
• Advanced analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights.
• Experience developing and managing Power BI dashboards.
• Exposure to business improvement frameworks and performance optimisation initiatives.
