Learning Assistant – 2025 PT position
This role is a parttime - 5 days and 32.5 hours per week school term time plus 2 weeks non-term time appointment.

About the Role

A Scots Inclusive Education Learning Assistant supports the classroom teacher and students in their classroom learning.

  • Work with teachers to create optimum learning experiences for our students.

  • Be flexible in working with students taking into consideration individual differences.

  • Supervise students when the teacher is working with a small target group.

  • Provide a balance of assistance with the aim to build self-efficacy.

Previous experience working with Stage 1 (Kindergarten / Foundation and Year One) students with a diverse range of learning needs will be an advantage.

The role will also include an administration component to support the Leader of Inclusive Education. These duties will consist of the collection of student data, supporting the coalition of support provisions to inform the NCCD and the review of strategies in Individual Learning Plans and behaviour support plans. Applicants need to have competent computer skills and be technologically literate.

About the Applicant

The successful applicant will have:

  • Qualifications - Cert. III in Education Support, or equivalent as a minimum.

  • Previous experience working with Stage 1 (Kindergarten / Foundation and Year One) students with a diverse range of learning needs will be an advantage.

  • An understanding of the NCCD.

  • Has experience in implementing effective behaviour management strategies to assist students with challenging, disruptive or disengage behaviours.

  • Has knowledge of working with students with complex learning needs.

  • Has experience providing evidence-based interventions to support students with a specific learning disorder.
