Biomedical Engineer Senior

Deliver biomedical engineering advice, analysis, and support services to ensure the safety, reliability and efficacy of medical devices and systems used across Queensland Hospitals.
What you'll do
- Provide and coordinate high level biomedical engineering advisory services to clinical, ICT/digital health, and other departments in relation to the management of health technologies and Australian Standards requirements in the health care environment.
- Provide high-level engineering support in the acquisition of healthcare technology and associated systems. This support may include:
- Preparing technical specifications.
- Undertaking technical and performance assessments of equipment.
- Evaluating technical aspects of tender responses, including preparation of reports to be included in evaluation analyses.
- Acceptance testing new equipment to ensure compliance with specifications and relevant safety standards prior to clinical use.
- Major system installation and commissioning projects.
- Provide high-level advisory services and oversight in relation to health technology safety.
- Lead clinical equipment incident investigation and other health technology related safety and quality initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including clinical staff, equipment suppliers, service providers, team members and managers, to achieve service delivery objectives.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- A recognised four-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) qualification in Engineering as recognised by Engineers Australia.
- Registration as an RPEQ (Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland) is highly desirable.
- Hold the licences, certifications and accreditations required to carry out activities within the relevant discipline areas or have the willingness and ability to make significant progress towards obtaining such during the first 6 months of employment.
- High level knowledge, expertise and skill in biomedical engineering or related fields.
- Ability to apply scientific and engineering knowledge, solve non-routine practical problems and achieve defined outcomes related to biomedical engineering or related fields.
- Ability to contribute positively to achieving defined goals in a team environment.
- High level oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to convey biomedical engineering principles and concepts to others.
- Leadership within a work unit, including developing and implementing quality improvements.
