The office of Senator the Hon Sarah Henderson is seeking applications for a casual Electorate Officer (EOA) position, based in the Geelong electorate office.

Position Overview

Senator Henderson is seeking a highly motivated individual who can produce excellent and engaging digital communications, including short-form video, graphic design and social media content.

This position could suit a tertiary student or recent graduate seeking part-time or flexible work.

The key duties of the position include but are not limited to:

  • create digital content including short-form video, graphic design and social media content;

  • develop, schedule, and publish engaging content across social media platforms;

  • assist with other general digital communication activities as required;

  • support broader communications and campaign strategy as required; and

  • undertake other general administrative tasks within the electorate office, as required.

The ideal candidate should be resourceful, self-motivated and possess relevant skills and experience including:

  • relevant qualifications or demonstrated experience, such as in graphic design

  • prior experience working in an electorate office environment is preferred but not essential

  • previous digital communications/campaigning experience

  • proficiency with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and InDesign;

  • photography and basic video editing skills with Adobe Premiere Pro desirable;

  • organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines;

  • an ability to work effectively as part of a team; and

  • knowledge of the Australian political landscape is desirable but not essential.

Employment conditions:

The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement which include:

  • An hourly rate between $36.22 and $38.34 per hour plus an additional 25% loading will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.

  • The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.

  • Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.

  • The successful applicant will be required to comply with their obligations under the Behaviour Codes and Standards.
