Irrigation 2IC

Brownport Almonds is a large almond farm located at Hattah. The orchard is entering prime production years and has a state of the art irrigation and fertigation system.

Position

The company presently seeks an Irrigation 2IC to assist our Irrigation Manager overseeing the day-to-day irrigation operations of the almond orchard and implementation of irrigation programs to optimise sustainable growth and production.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist in the day-to-day operations of the farm irrigation and fertigation, and the implementation of weekly and yearly horticultural programs to achieve optimum levels of growth and production.

· Assist in the planning, monitoring and managing of efficient delivery of water and fertiliser.

· Assist in management of the drainage system and the removal of surface water within the orchard following large rain events.

· Assist in the supervision and implementation of the maintenance of orchard irrigation infrastructure.

· Assist in maintaining records of all irrigation and fertigation events, power and water usage.

· Liaise with key service providers to meet company requirements.

· Assist in the training and supervision of irrigation staff.

Skills and Experience

· Hands-on knowledge of drip irrigation systems, design, and an understanding of programmed maintenance of irrigation infrastructure.

· Experience working in a large-scale horticultural enterprise.

· Sound problem solving and communication skills.

· A practical approach, with the ability to organise and supervise field staff.

· Experience using basic computer programs.

Remuneration
