Glitch Productions is an independent animation studio based in Australia making original, long form animated shows distributed on Youtube. Our channel has over 16 million subscribers, tens of millions of views per episode and is still growing strong. Our studio is filled with incredibly talented and passionate artists that are determined to change the way animation is produced and treated in the industry. Our biggest IP; Digital Circus, has amassed over 350 million views on the pilot alone and we have a lot more still to come.
Role Information:
We are seeking a passionate and visionary Writer & Director to lead the creative development of our 2D animated series. This role is central to shaping the story, characters, and artistic style of the project, while guiding the creative team to deliver a compelling and cohesive final product. The Writer & Director will collaborate closely with artists, designers, voice talent, and production staff to bring the series to life with originality and consistency.
Your duties will include:- Writing and Story Development: Create scripts, storylines, character arcs, and worldbuilding that establish a strong narrative foundation for the series.
- Artistic Direction: Provide clear direction to artists and designers in the creation of art assets, ensuring alignment with the overall vision.
- Vision Leadership: Define and maintain a consistent creative vision for the project's story, tone, and visual style.
- Voice Direction: Lead and direct voice actors during recording sessions to ensure performances are authentic and aligned with character intent.
- Creative Decision-Making: Make key creative decisions across story, art, and production that will be executed by the production team.
A successful candidate will have:
- 5 years' proven experience as a Writer, Director, or Showrunner in 2D animation, television, or film.
- Strong storytelling skills with a track record of developing engaging narratives, memorable characters, and immersive worlds.
- A keen eye for visual storytelling, with the ability to translate narrative into compelling imagery and art direction.
- Experience working closely with artists, designers, and production teams to deliver high-quality animated content.
- Ability to direct and coach voice actors, with strong communication skills that bring performances to life.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to inspire teams and maintain creative focus under production deadlines.
- Deep understanding of animation pipelines and processes, particularly within 2D production.
- Passion for innovation in storytelling and visual style.
