THE ROLE

To have the conduct of a portfolio of Workers' Compensation and Work Injury Damages cases and Superannuation TPD.

To deliver the highest quality of expert compensation legal advice to clients and ensure that all clients have expeditious access to justice.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing high quality and timely verbal and written legal advice to clients who have suffered injury or loss
  • Developing plans to ensure proper evidence gathering, and analysing evidence to ensure cases are progressed in accordance with plans; revising as needed to achieve the best possible outcome for clients
  • Drafting legal correspondence and court documents
  • Appearing before courts and PIC on behalf of clients
  • Conducting negotiations on behalf of clients to achieve maximum compensation
  • Regularly liaising with clients, barristers, medical experts and other external providers to progress files
  • Ensuring files are progressed in a timely manner, whilst achieving the best possible outcome for clients
  • Ensuring barristers, medical and other experts are properly briefed and instructed to ensure the best possible outcome for clients
  • Providing guidance, coaching and support to junior legal practitioners and paralegals
  • Organising and maintaining electronic case files in accordance with firm policies and procedures
  • Achieving budgets and key performance indicators as set by the business from time to time

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Laws or equivalent
  • Admission as a Solicitor of Supreme Court of New South Wales
  • Current NSW Practising Certificate
  • 2-5 years' PAE with experience in statutory workers' compensation claims
  • Thorough knowledge of legislation impacting work injury claims
  • Knowledge and experience with other personal injury practice areas is desired
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience training and mentoring junior team members is desired
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Able to uphold ethical standards and values and to act with integrity and confidentiality
  • Empathic, co-operative and professional
  • Ability to work autonomously, as well as with a team
