About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and motivated Engineering Technologist (Mechanical) to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the Director, you will play a key role in coordinating mechanical engineering projects from concept through to commissioning. This role involves applying engineering technologies to support project design, development, fabrication, and installation activities in accordance with Australian Standards

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with clients' engineers and supervisors on project scope, job estimation, and preparation of technical proposals.
  • Provide technical support on mechanical systems repairs, process improvements, and equipment upgrades.
  • Prepare and review plans, layouts, and fabrication drawings for new or modified machinery and structures.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and adapt technical specifications for manufacture, assembly, and commissioning.
  • Review fabrication drawings and prepare Bills of Materials (BOM) for project delivery.
  • Prepare Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and risk assessments in compliance with WHS regulations and company policies.
  • Coordinate with site teams during fabrication, welding, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and schedules to ensure timely completion.
  • Prepare Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and welder qualifications as per Australian Standards.
  • Support clients during project commissioning and handover.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in a fabrication or mechanical engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and WHS compliance.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Experience with welding processes, fabrication methods, and mechanical systems preferred.
