About the position (temporary up to 18 months with the possibility of ongoing employment) 

The Accounts Receivable Officer plays a key role in managing the Parliament's debtor processes, ensuring accurate invoicing, timely debt collection, receipting, banking, and reconciliation. You will be responsible for maintaining debtor accounts, preparing complex general ledger reconciliations across bank accounts and subsidiary systems, and providing accurate reporting on outstanding debts.

Working closely with Members, their staff, parliamentary staff and external customers, you will build strong relationships to support effective service delivery while ensuring compliance with financial policies, procedures and legislative requirements. The role also contributes to the ongoing improvement of finance processes, supports broader accounts services functions, and works as part of a high-performing, collaborative team committed to delivering quality outcomes.

Based in NSW Parliament, the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is a specialist service department working to support the operation of the Parliament of NSW by providing logistical support and advice to members, the Departments of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly and the people of New South Wales. About you:

You are an experienced finance professional with a strong background in accounts receivable, debt collection and complex reconciliations. With a solid understanding of accounting processes, you bring a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of your work.

You are highly organised, able to set priorities, manage competing deadlines, and maintain meticulous records in a busy environment. Your strong administrative skills are complemented by your ability to build effective working relationships and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders in a professional and tactful manner.

You are confident using financial information systems (ideally SAP) and are proficient across the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
