As a locally owned independent retailer Tamar Valley Grocer is passionate about supporting local producers and suppliers, including artisan bread makers, local fruit and vegetable producers and cheese makers while also sourcing specialty ingredients from around the world.

Focused on providing an enjoyable, convenient retail experience while providing value for money for our customers leveraging our partnership with the IGA network. Expanding further, the Tamar Valley Grocer offers a delicatessen and a range of ready-made meals from local suppliers.

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Store Manager to lead our team, maintain operational excellence, and help us in providing high-end products and service.

Job Summary: Retail Assistant (full-time)

The Retail Assistant at The Tamar Valley Grocer is a key part of our dedicated grocery team ensuring our customers have a fantastic experience, every time.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Customer Service – delivering outstanding customer service, assisting customers with enquiries, feedback and to resolve any issues. Driving a culture of customer care and community.
  • Stock rotation & presentation - receiving and unpacking stock, ensuring stock is well-presented and easy for customers to access.
  • Store presentation - contribute to the store appearance, cleanliness, merchandising, safety, opening and closing procedures.
  • Leadership - opening & closing of the store ensuring alignment with Company procedures, team leadership and coordination of store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.

With opening hours from 6.30am-8pm Monday to Saturday and 8am-8pm Sunday, this role will alternate between opening and closing shifts, and will be required to work every second weekend (Saturday & Sunday).

About you:

Do you have a passion for fresh food, local produce and customer service?

Our ideal candidate will have proven experience in customer service, preferably in the grocery industry.

Computer literacy with previous experience in POS systems, MS Office programs, XERO and stock management preferable.
