Winston Hills, New South Wales, Australia Toshiba International Corporation Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

About Toshiba

Toshiba International Corporation (TIC) was established in 1978 in Sydney, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation, Japan. We deliver solutions to Australia's Energy, Mining, Industrial and Social Infra-Structure Sectors by combining local engineering & implementation with Toshiba's global technologies. Our activities include energy and industrial product sales, engineering, project management, on-site installation, construction and maintenance works.

Job Summary: TIC is seeking a driven and experienced Low Voltage Electric Motor Specialist to join our ISS division. In this role, you will lead the end-to-end development and lifecycle management of Low Voltage Electric Motors, from concept through to launch, with a strong focus on technical performance, commercial viability, and market alignment. You will gather and analyse market intelligence, identify growth opportunities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Technical Support—to ensure products meet industry standards, safety regulations, and customer expectations. With responsibilities spanning product design, technical validation, and supply chain optimisation, this role demands a deep understanding of Low Voltage Motor technology, strong project management capabilities, and excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree, or a Trade Certificate, or have 5–10 years of relevant experience in electric motor systems or related industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market and Competitor Analysis: Generate and maintain in-depth market and competitor knowledge, liaising with customers, suppliers, and industry contacts to stay updated on Low Voltage Motor industry trends and dynamics.
  • New Product/Feature Introduction: Lead the development, costing, pricing, and launch plans for new products/features. This includes preparing sales training materials and providing ongoing sales support to ensure successful product adoption.
  • Cross-Functional Team Collaboration: Ensure effective teamwork within the product specialty team and across key functions, including Marketing, Sales, Project Management, Technical Support, Logistics, Legal, Suppliers, and others, to drive seamless execution and delivery of products.
  • Business Opportunity Identification: Proactively identify business opportunities within the market and evaluate these opportunities in collaboration with the Low Voltage Motor Product Manager to determine whether TIC should pursue them.
  • Supplier Selection & Evaluation: Manage the supplier selection process, including evaluation and onboarding, in partnership with the Low Voltage Motor Product Manager to ensure the right suppliers meet the product requirements.
  • Project Management: Lead or coordinate projects (fully or partially) from initiation through to completion, ensuring alignment with timelines, budget, and scope. Responsible for clear communication, resource allocation, and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure a clear understanding of and adherence to compliance requirements for various standard products within TIC, primarily in accordance with AS and IEC standards.
  • Supplier Communication & Technical Assessment: Engage with current and potential suppliers to assess and ensure the technical suitability of products being purchased, ensuring high-quality standards and alignment with project needs.
  • Pre-Sales & Post-Sales Support: Provide ongoing pre-sales and post-sales technical support to Product Managers, Sales teams, and customers to ensure successful product implementation and customer satisfaction.

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Understand the relevance and importance of OHS, Quality Management, Export Control and Company Policies as they apply to this position and maintain appropriate requirements.
  • Extensive experience in domestic and overseas supplier development and management, with a focus on ensuring quality, cost-efficiency, and timely delivery of products.
  • Deep knowledge of the technology and market requirements related to the specific product line or specialty area, with the ability to drive product innovation and continuous improvement.
  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent), a Trade Certificate, or 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar role with a strong technical background in product development and management.
  • Proven ability in project management, including the management of product lifecycles, timelines, and resources.
  • Demonstrated business management skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams, collaborate with key stakeholders, and align product strategies with business goals.
  • Expertise in product specification, product lifecycle management, and the ability to define, document, and communicate product requirements effectively to all relevant teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to act as a product specialist and provide technical expertise to support sales, customer inquiries, and troubleshooting.

On offer to the successful candidate will be an attractive salary and sales incentives package and the opportunity to work for a successful company with strong values and a culture of people development and progression.
