About the opportunity

There is currently one (1) full time, permanent position available for immediate filling.

As a Regional Biosecurity Coordinator, you will lead a team of Biosecurity Officers to implement biosecurity programs that identify, prevent, and respond to risks threatening Western Australia's agriculture, environment, and economy. You will manage projects and emergency responses, ensuring compliance with legislation and maintaining high standards of animal welfare and product integrity. Your role will involve coordinating surveillance and control of invasive species, investigating non-compliance, collaborating with stakeholders, providing expert advice, and contributing to policy and operational improvements.

We are looking for individuals with:

  • Demonstrated experience in biosecurity, providing technical knowledge and support; and knowledge of regulatory and inspection activities to prevent or manage risk from pests that impact animals, plants, and terrestrial environments.
  • Well-developed knowledge of invasive plant and animal species that pose a threat to the community, environment and economy.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, providing structure, guidance and direction to project teams, and a high level of interpersonal, negotiating, and communication skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
