Outsider Gallery is seeking a committed and detail-oriented Gallery Assistant to support our operations and gain direct experience in the commercial art world. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with contemporary art, contribute to exhibition programming, and develop professional networks within Sydney's art scene.

About Outsider Gallery
Outsider Gallery is a commercial art gallery dedicated to presenting innovative and conceptually rigorous work by emerging and established artists. Situated in Surry Hills, the gallery serves as a platform for critical dialogue and engagement with contemporary artistic practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-of-house support, welcoming visitors and assisting with enquiries.
  • Conduct research on contemporary artists, exhibitions, and critical discourse, contributing written analyses where relevant.
  • Assist with day-to-day gallery operations, including administrative tasks and exhibition logistics.
  • Attend and support monthly exhibition openings and other gallery events.
  • Participate in artist studio visits, offering insight into contemporary practices and strengthening connections between the gallery and artists.
  • Support digital content creation and social media management as needed.
