Deckhand – Trawler (Newcastle)

Looking for staff to start immediately

We are a proud family-owned fishing business looking for a reliable and motivated Deckhand to join our crew off Newcastle. This is a hands-on role that plays an important part in the day-to-day running of our trawler operations.

About the Role

  • Assisting with commercial fishing operations, including sorting and grading the catch
  • Supporting vessel upkeep through cleaning, routine checks, and basic maintenance
  • Following safe work practices and contributing to a positive team environment
  • Working as part of a close-knit crew in a fast-paced and physically demanding role

Hours

  • Sunday to Friday (six days per week)
  • Early starts from 4:00 am, with variable start and finish times depending on conditions and catch

Requirements

  • Must have reliable transport to accommodate early starts
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and willingness to learn on the job
  • Physically fit and comfortable working in all weather conditions at sea
  • Ability to work well as part of a team in a family-oriented environment
