Your why
The Technical Lead at Ubank is responsible for uplifting the engineering standards by setting the technical vision for the company. This role involves not only excelling in software engineering but also influencing and guiding the team to implement changes that benefit the entire organization.

How You Will Spend Your Time

• Provide technical guidance and set coding standards
• Define technical architecture and design patterns
• Create and maintain documentation on technical systems
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Engineers and Designers to refine tasks
• Perform code reviews and mentor engineers
• Identify and prioritize technical debt
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement
• Align squad goals with organizational objectives and remove blockers
• Maintain clear communication with the Engineering Manager
• Promote a positive, collaborative, inclusive team culture
• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies, introducing new concepts and practices to the wider Engineering team and codebase
• Plan for future capacity needs considering technical dependencies and skill requirements
• Involved in defining hiring processes

What will you bring
Relevant experience, or degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• 7+ years of experience as a software engineer working across the stack.
• Proven track record of delivering reliable, performant, secure, and cost-effective projects in an agile environment.
• Experience in mentoring team members and improving organizational technical excellence.
• Deep/specialised understanding of the technology stack in a few areas, with a broad general knowledge of the complete stack (front-end, back-end, infrastructure).
• Experience delivering benefits through continuous integration and continuous delivery.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Technical excellence that contributes to organizational improvement.
• Strong understanding of software testing and security principles and best practices including OWASP
• Experience in the banking or financial industry
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling
• Experience with AWS infrastructure and services (Lambda, EC2, EKS, SQS, RDS)
• Experience with SQL databases, particularly Postgres
• Experience in testing methodologies, TDD, and frameworks (e.g. Playwright, Cypress)
• Experience in implementing, designing robust error handling, logging and observability.
