In this role, you'll:
Working as part of a cyber security operation team safeguarding Transport's critical IT and OT assets, this role will see you lead cyber operations and strengthen the defence of Transport's 'crown jewels'.

You'll provide hands-on expert guidance across cyber operations, incident management, risk mitigation, and compliance, while supporting initiatives that uplift capability and align security practices with key standards.

You will champion best practice in cyber compliance, monitor and respond to threats, and guide the continuous improvement of cyber security operations. This role will see you collaborating closely with the compliance team, acting as a subject matter expert, and driving proactive measures to protect essential infrastructure and customer technology.

This is temporary opportunity until 30/06/2026 and is based at Parramatta with hybrid work arrangements.

About you
Proven experience in cyber security operations and understanding of compliance frameworks such as Essential 8, ISO27001, NIST Framework, and PCI-DSS will see you excel in delivering strong defence outcomes and navigating complex compliance landscapes.

You're recognised for your technical depth and stakeholder engagement skills, hands-on experience with cyber operations tools such as Qualys, Elastic, and EDR solutions to manage vulnerabilities and strengthen detection & prevention capabilities.

Experienced across both IT and Operational Technology environments, with solid understanding in operating systems and network fundamentals, Privileged Access Management and security architecture design and practices, ensuring Transport's systems remain robust and resilient.

Flexibility to occasionally work beyond regular hours in order to provide 24x7 support for major incidents and critical issues during peak periods is required.

Professional certifications or a good understanding of the prerequisites for certifications or technologies like MCSA, MCITP, CISSP, CCSP, OSCP, PCIP, or CEH are preferred but not mandatory.
